OUR MISSION

Openkast understands the needs of users that face challenges in accessing the information they require to operate effectively. Its mission is to support them through partnership, and innovative enabling technology (the Openkast XML Engine) and an agile approach to developing and deploying solutions.
HISTORY
Openkast was established in 1997 by a management team with over 15 years experience of developing advanced Information Management systems for the Defence, Intelligence and Law Enforcement markets. Recognising the potential of XML to provide the cornerstone of solutions to address issues related to large scale information integration and migration projects, they embarked on the development of an efficient XML information repository.
The Openkast XML Engine was launched in 2000 to support a range of content management services. It was then developed to provide a platform for intelligence gathering and processing legacy data. Notable successes included:
- Integrating insurance information from multiple sources
- Supporting intelligence based operations
- Providing a sector specific archive for marketing information
From 2005, Openkast has collaborated with major companies, developing capability demonstrators to showcase the technology to organisations with a need to share information and manage legacy data. Through one such partnership the company has applied its core technology to naval messaging, an area disadvantaged by bandwidth constraints and security considerations.
Openkast believes that, underpinned by its enabling XML technology, its future lies in supporting disadvantaged communities of users, giving them the information they need, when they need it.
