MONITORING USER ACTIVITY

Pherret is a web based application, which aims to assist organisations monitor and evaluate user activity. It addresses some of the issues related to auditing events in environments that support information sharing and collaborative working.
The interface has been designed to help answer typical questions that may be asked in relation to access to systems or information sets
- Who accessed what systems?
- Who has been trying to access systems?
- Who saw what information?
- Who changed documents?
- Who tried to find what information?
FEATURES
Pherret can be configured to accept information originating from a variety of logs, recording system activity and user interaction. The underlying repository stores a record of each event captured by the system. Event activity relating to Active Directory and LDAP communities would be possible examples. Typical events could include:
- Login (success and failure)
- Search requests
- Document accesses and updates
In support of interoperability, and to allow information to be used in other contexts, records are tagged and stored efficiently in XML format in a native XML database.
